Maria Tysiachniouk has has authored over 120 publications and taught at numerous institutions in Russia, Europe, and North America. She is currently doing research on global forest governance and on the role of non-profit organizations in social transformation. Originally trained as a biologist, she is also completing a second Ph.D. in sociology at Wagenening University, Netherlands. She recently published a book, Ecological Modernization of the Forest Sector in Russia and the United States.
